Thicker Than Water by Mike Carey

(42) Felix Castor, book 4

So SO so good!

I finally got tired of waiting for my local library to catch up with my reading ambitions and bought the last two books in the Castor series (thus far… there are rumors of a 6th in the works…).

I read through the day, into the evening, and to the small hours of the night blazing through this.  And I don’t regret a minute of it.

With Thicker Than Water, I really see Carey growing as a novelist — his plotting and characters have always been great and multidimensional, but he suffered from the British author’s (Mieville!) inability to jump in with both feet at the beginning of the story. Not anymore.  This was a FAB read and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I will, since I have a long day in a hospital waiting room tomorrow and I’m saving it for then. For now, I’m slogging through Trace and wondering why I felt it necessary to get caught up on the Scarpetta series…
