(16) Rain Wilds Chronicles, vol 1

I liked this a lot more than most of the Amazon reviewers, apparently. My biggest issue with it was that, compared to the depth and breadth of the novels in her Farseer, Liveship Traders, and Tawny Man series, this felt very short and shallow.  I liked that the characters were characters, with the exception of Greft who was a stock character if ever there was one, with good points and bad–that they were all human, no matter how inhuman their appearance.

To make the most sense of this story, though, you need to read, at a minimum, the Liveship Traders trilogy. Be get the most out of it, read all three trilogies above. I recommend reading them in the order listed above, too, for the best overview of the world of this series.
