Dy's Take

The Passage by Justin Cronin

*grumble* WHAT is up with these hella long books with disappointing endings?

I kept falling for characters, just to see them die. And while we know the world went on, based on how the excerpts are framed, we don’t know how the world got from apocalypse to, “Hey, look how dumb we were 1000 yrs ago conferences…” I just wanted MORE.

And less.  There were a few peripheral characters who could’ve done with a lot less backstory (maybe then the author would have had time/pages/energy to answer all my questions.

A good book, overall, but the first half is a sloooowwwww. Not sure I’d recommend it, my anger about the ending is still too fresh.

  1. I was pretty peeved with it too until I found out it’s the first book in a planned trilogy 🙂
