( 35 ) Portal Chronicles, book 1

Bought this on the recommendation of a friend. Reminded myself afterward that this friend and I have very different taste.

It was okay, but it did something that was, for me, unpardonable in a series book unless you’re J.R.R. Tolkien — it ended with a cliffhanger and didn’t really resolve any of the big issues. The time travel aspect of it drove me a little batty since they never really explained the how/why of it and the explanation we did get was garbled and chaotic. An accurate reflection of the character’s feelings, perhaps, but annoying all the same.

I’ll read the next one, and hope it’s better. May re-read before I read the 2nd one just to make sure I’m recalling it right— it was a quick YA read to begin with.
