This was SO good.  I enjoyed pretty much every moment of this book – the character was identifiable (it was very easy to forget how young she was) and the conclusion was satisfying.  Of course, I’ve been watching too many movies without happy endings lately, so maybe having a main character NOT die got weighted more than it should have…

I may inflict this on my book club next year, I’d be interested to hear their comments.

  1. Really? I wanted to like this book, especially given the setting and the subject matter (there were some themes similar to those I tackled in my own book, An Island Away). I wanted more detail and just a little more plot. I found the info about carpet making interesting but would have liked more dimension to the characters, especially the lady of the house. Too flat. Still, a decent read. http://www.bentpage.wordpress.com.
