Midnight Harvest by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Another disappointment to me as a long-time fan of St. Germain, but I’ll read on anyway.

Earth Abides by George R. Stewart

As powerful today as when it was written in the 40s, if a little dated. It’s a small book, but very dense, don’t expect to whiz through it.

Do you think you would make it long enough to birth the next generation of humanity if disease wiped out 95% of the Earths’ population in a matter of weeks? After watching your family and friends die would you have the strength to carry on? I’m not sure I could.

Not Just for Tonight

Short Stories by Susan Johnson, Katherine O’Neal, & Diane Whiteside

A set of soft erotica shorts, all historical and none standing out as particularly good or bad, though the one with the supposed ’sex doctor’ is HIGHLY improbable!

Tiger Eye by Marjorie M. Liu

I like the bare bones of this one, the concept of the agency the MC is loosely affiliated with, the band together of gifted humans, etc. The rest of the book left me cold and the writing/storyline was very predictable. Not so bad I wish I had the two hours of my life back, but not likely to be revisited, either.

The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser

Another blast from the past for me.

Happily, this one, too, is as good as I remembered from my childhood – but not nearly as racy as I believed it to be when I was 12!

Goldenrod by Mary Towne

I loved this when I read it at the library as a kid and finally broke down and ordered it this year, since it’s been out of print for a while. I like the way that it captures the imagination and holds on. I was surprised to see a lot more subtext than I remembered.
